Birmingham, Ala.: Champion Sports Medicine is proud to announce the launch of its new women's health program. This new program will be led by women's health specialists at Champion locations in Birmingham, Jasper and Greystone, with additional locations to be added in the future.
The women's health program will offer specialized physical therapy services to female patients suffering from an array of health issues, primarily focusing on pelvic floor dysfunction and incontinence.
"Champion Sports Medicine has been a leader in orthopaedic rehabilitation for nearly 15 years, and over time we have been able to identify patients who are being underserved," said Ryan Baker, P.T., DPT, market manager, Champion Sports Medicine. "Our new women's health program is designed to specifically treat a number of critical issues affecting females in their everyday lives."
Champion Sports Medicine employs three women's health physical therapists with training through the Section on Women's Health of the American Physical Therapy Association who will lead this new program:
Taylor Price, P.T., DPT
Price earned her doctorate in physical therapy from the University of South Alabama. She has been published in Physical Therapy in Sport and has presented at the World Confederation for Physical Therapy Congress 2017 and American Physical Therapy Association's Combined Sections Meeting. Price also currently serves as an invited lecturer in the Physical Therapy Program at Samford University.
Stephanie Ridgway, P.T., DPT
Ridgway earned a bachelor's degree in biochemistry from Calvin College and a doctorate in physical therapy from Rosalind Franklin University. She is a competitive marathoner and the mother of two children.
Amy Sanders, P.T.
Sanders earned a bachelor's degree in exercise science from Auburn University and a master's in physical therapy from University of Alabama-Birmingham. She has been in practice for 15 years and is a mother of two children.
Each of the therapists will conduct a full assessment focusing on the pelvic floor, spine and hips. They will also use manual therapy, muscle re-education, strengthening, flexibility and behavioral interventions to treat patients.
