Our Team

Kevin Wilk , DPT, Associate Clinical Director, Co-Founder

Kevin has lead a distinguished career as a clinical physical therapist for the past 39 years, as a leading authority in rehabilitation of sports injuries and orthopedic lesions. He has made significant contributions to laboratory research, biomechanical research and clinical outcome studies, Kevin has published 170+ professional articles and has written 10 textbooks. Kevin is active treating patients, performing research and providing professional education to colleagues. Kevin serves as associate clinical director and co-founder for Champion Sports Medicine. Kevin is also vice president and national director of clinical education and research for Select Medical. He is also adjunct assistant professor of physical therapy at Marquette University. He received his undergraduate degree from Northwestern University Medical School and doctorate of physical therapy from Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of HealthCare Professions. Kevin has performed rehabilitation on some great athletes through his career, including athletes in the MLB, NBA, NFL, WWE and more.

Michael Bagwell, P.T., DPT, OCS, CMPT, Center Manager

Michael completed a bachelor's degree in biology at Fort Hays State University and doctorate in physical therapy from the University of Kansas Medical Center. Upon graduation he became employed in an orthopedic and sports medicine practice in Kansas while pursuing an advanced practice manual therapy certification. In 2016 he moved to Birmingham to begin an intensive sports medicine fellowship under the tutelage of Kevin Wilk. In 2019 he became a board-certified specialist in orthopedic physical therapy. He has co-authored several peer reviewed publications and a book chapter related to the rehabilitation and return to participation after shoulder injuries. Michael has vast experience working with patients of all ages and ability levels, including the NCAA, NFL, WWE, NBA and MLB.
